Pre-season dust-ups on the training track are relatively normal at AFL clubs.

After all, it’s a high pressure environment and there are precious spots in the Round 1 team up for grabs.

But some training squabbles stick in the memory bank.

For the Bulldogs, you can go back to the pre-season ahead of the 2005 season, when new Club captain Luke Darcy knocked out a young Bob Murphy on VU Whitten Oval.

Bob wrote about the incident two years ago on this website, outlining his side of the story.

This week, he and Dogs superstar Marcus Bontempelli had the opportunity to interrogate Darcy, who was a guest on the Club’s podcast, Barkly Street.

And he held no ‘punches’ as he recounted the incident from his side of the fence.
