Hayden Crozier

In his second season in red, white and blue, Hayden Crozier was impressive in defence. 

The 25-year-old missed just one game for the year, through injury, averaging more than 16 disposals and six marks per game as he combined his strong rebounding and aerial abilities to great effect.

Crozier ranked second at the Bulldogs for marks and rebound-50s, going at 82.2 per cent efficiency to be the team’s most effective ball user*. 

He plucked mark of the year contenders against Collingwood and Brisbane, and played his 100th AFL game in round 16.

Best game 

Arguably Crozier’s best game for the year was in the round seven win against Richmond.

He had a season-high 28 disposals with three inside-50s and five rebound-50s, plus 625 metres gained. Nine marks – including two intercepts – were complemented by five spoils.

Easton Wood

Skipper Easton Wood achieved a career-first in 2019 – he played every game for the season. 

The 30-year-old led the Bulldogs to the finals for the second time, with his leadership as valuable as his on-field contribution to this young line-up. 

Wood played a variety of roles in defence for his team across the season and notching his 150th AFL game in round 14 against Collingwood.

Best game

Wood stood tall in a disappointing loss to St Kilda in round 18.

With the Bulldogs’ back-line under siege, the skipper had 23 disposals and four rebound-50s, to go with 10 marks and six spoils.

Matt Suckling

Matt Suckling was again an important player for the Bulldogs in 2019, spending time both forward and back. 

The 31-year-old averaged more than 20 disposals per game across his 19 outings, generating plenty of drive for the Bulldogs with his penetrating left boot.

Long bombs from outside 50 featured in the highlights reel again, with Suckling inking a one-year extension for next season.

Best game 

Suckling’s influence was significant against his former side in round two, as the Bulldogs secured a memorable come-from-behind win.
