Throughout The Whitten Project I’ve had such a positive and great experience. I have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities which I would never have been able to if it wasn’t for the Whitten program. I have learnt so much during my experience of The Whitten Project. Some skills and attributes I have learnt  include;

?                 Teamwork

?                 Resilience

?                 Confidence

?                 Making new friends

?                 Meeting new people

?                 Create initiative

?                 Creating social connections & partnerships

?                 Organising events

?                 Public speaking

?                 Having fun

?                 And of course LEADERSHIP

All of these great skills are sure to help me out in the future, in many different ways and aspects of my life. These skills will help me when I’m going for a job. Gaining these skills have helped me make new friends and contacts, they have allowed me take more initiative in my classes and sporting teams in the ways of leadership. Being a member of the Whitten project has also supported me when applying for scholarships and programs.  I know that all of these skills I have learnt and made stronger will help me so much during my life.

I was asked to choose my highlight of the program.  This was a difficult task itself as It was so hard to choose. All of the activities we did within The Whitten Project was so much fun and worthwhile.

Looking back, I think that playing AFL 9’s on the MCG would have to be my highlight of the experience. It was so exciting being out on the MCG field where many great athletes have stood before. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do that again, so this is why it was such a great experience and I’m so lucky to have been able to participate in it.

I would definitely recommend The Whitten Project to anyone. It can help you become a better leader if you’re only starting to come out of your shell or even if you are already out there and being a leader. It gives you great opportunities and is very fun.

The Whitten Project has been such a great overall experience for me. I’m so lucky to have made many new friends and met many new people. I’d like to say a very big thank you to the people who nominated me and another big thank you to the Melton council for providing me with this opportunity.
