Season in short:

Recruited from the Western Jets, Hunter broke into the senior side in round 13 and played in nine of the Bulldogs’ remaining 11 matches. With dash and poise around the contests, Hunter played multiple games as a high-impact substitute. Averaging 13 disposals, his best performance came in the final round against Melbourne with 25 disposals, five inside 50s and two goals. With another pre-season, the son of former Bulldog Mark Hunter will no doubt seize more opportunities in 2014.

Stat that mattered:

Nine games experience for the 18-year-old father-son selection will be invaluable as he heads into his second year at the kennel. The youngest player on the Bulldogs list, Hunter missed just two games after his debut in round 13 and showed the Bulldogs faithful an insight into what is yet to come.

What they said:

““I think he will be a midfielder in time, probably more suited to playing forward at the moment. He’s very creative, he just understands the game and when the ball is near him, good things happen – so we are looking forward to him debuting and going from there.”

- Senior Coach Brendan McCartney before Hunter’s debut in round 13

Pre-season focus:

Hunter will have the opportunity during the pre-season to build on his running and athletic capacity to increase his chances of some midfield game time in 2014. After a strong beginning to his AFL career, the Western Jets recruit will make the most of a full pre-season to best prepare himself for the rigours of senior football next year.
