In conjunction with the Blue Ribbon Foundation, the Western Bulldogs played host to a special ‘Inside the Kennel’ function last week to honour all fallen Victorian Police members.

With over 70 people in attendance, the night featured an two course meal and a panel discussion featuring Bulldogs players Matthew Boyd and Robert Murphy, and the club’s Head of Physical Conditioning Bill Davoren.

Following the panel, Western Bulldogs’ General Manager of Education and Community Engagement Chris Christoforou was joined by representatives from Victoria Police to detail the relationship between the Bulldogs and the Foundation.
Last year the Western Bulldogs announced that they would help raise funds to support the Foundation in the redevelopment of the Western Hospital’s Emergency Department in Footscray.

The Western Hospital is the main emergency department in Melbourne’s West and will be named in honour of the late policeman Timothy Lewczuk who was killed in the line of duty.

All profits from the function will be donated to the Blue Ribbon Foundation at the upcoming Blue Ribbon Remembrance Day.

A Blue Ribbon Remembrance Day event will be held at the Whitten Oval on the 29 September, 2011. The event will commence at 12.30pm with a football clinic and BBQ, with the remembrance ceremony commencing at 1.40pm sharp.

For more information on the event please contact Ruth Harley on 0428 762 378 or rharley@citywestwater.com.au.

The Blue Ribbon Foundation aims to encourage the people of Victoria to show existing members of the police force that their hard work is well respected by the community.
