Season Overview:
Easton Wood had a mixed year, with flashes of brilliance, great defensive work and frustrating soft tissue injuries all featuring in 2012. Using his athleticism and power to break lines, Wood showed he can expose his opponents with bursts of pace and staunch defensive efforts — highlighted by a successful run with role on Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes.

By the Numbers:
As he begins to approach the 50 game milestone, Wood found a career high 20 disposals on two occasions this season. Year on year the Geelong Grammar recruit averaged over two more disposals per game, almost two extra marks and almost one extra inside 50. He also boasted the fifth most rebound 50s on average at the Club in 2012.

Season Highlight:
Wood exhibited one of his most promising displays against Collingwood in round 6, despite being substituted out of the game midway through the third term with a hamstring injury. His rebound and run out of the back line made him one of the more influential players early in the game with five inside 50s and two rebound 50s despite the reduced game time. He found 19 possessions at 78.95% disposal efficiency, five marks and one goal.

Pre-Season Focus:
Building on his current fitness, speed and strength, Wood will be eager to continue to prove his worth over the pre-season. As always, Wood’s pre-season will be attacked with purpose, as the 23-year-old looks to solidify his standing as an important cog in the club’s defence.
