The Western Bulldogs have yet to establish where they stand in the AFL pecking order in 2020, according to senior coach Luke Beveridge.

After 10 games, they find themselves in the middle of a competitive field – with a 5-5 ledger.

Only one of those wins have come against current top eight clubs – against GWS Giants – compared to four losses.

Tomorrow night’s clash against the third-placed Lions offers the Bulldogs a chance to improve that record.

But Beveridge believes it’s more about his side finding its best again, rather than needing to claim a scalp to prove a point.

“With us, we haven’t established that we’re a team that necessarily wins against anyone at either pole on the ladder,” the Bulldogs’ boss said today on the Gold Coast.

“Our own personal challenge is definitely an internal thing.

“We’re looking for our most extreme aspect of intensity and how provocative we can be as a group in the competition. We always believe it’s in our own hands.

“I don’t think we see Brisbane any different to Adelaide the following week, it’s just another challenge in front of us… We do believe we can be an influential team and an improving team quickly.”

But for both teams, they will enter this match with something to prove.

The Bulldogs will be looking to turn around their form after back-to-back defeats to premiership fancies Richmond and Port Adelaide, while the Lions were also humbled by the Tigers last week.

“We see it as an exciting challenge because Brisbane are a powerful team now, they’re a strong team and they’re up the northern end of the ladder,” Beveridge said.

“Like Port last week, we’ll go up to Brisbane believing that we’re more than capable. But we know the things that will hurt us and be to our detriment if we don’t get it right.”

The Bulldogs will be without Hayden Crozier (toe) due to injury, while Beveridge confirmed Josh Schache (groin) and Lachie Hunter would be unavailable for selection this week.
