Skipper Marcus Bontempelli led from the front – on the field and in voting – as the Western Bulldogs scored a strong win against the Adelaide Crows on Sunday.

The gun midfielder racked up 33 disposals, 12 clearances and two goals, plus a perfect 10 votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.

Bontempelli was one of six Bulldogs to feature in the voting.

The two coaches agreed on the four best players on the ground.

A career-high six-goal haul to Aaron Naughton saw him collect eight votes, with fellow young gun Bailey Smith earning six votes for his career-best 37 disposals and 813 metres gained.

Dashing defender Bailey Williams also featured in the voting, picking up four votes after generating 614 metres gained from 20 disposals.

Caleb Daniel and Easton Wood closed out the votes, with one apiece.

Heading up the Bulldogs’ leaderboard after round 12 is Jack Macrae (39 votes) – who sits in seventh place overall – followed by Bontempelli with 29 votes.

Brisbane’s Lachie Neale is more than 20 votes clear at the top of the table, with 75 votes.
