Western Bulldogs young guns Bailey Smith and Aaron Naughton have both been selected in the 2020 AFLPA 22under22 Team.

It marks selection for Naughton the second year running in the team, and a first call-up for Smith.

Naughton was named at centre half forward, with Smith selected as ruck rover.

Smith has gone from strength-to-strength in his second year as a Bulldog.

The 19-year-old has played every game since making his debut in red, white and blue in round one last year.

He’s averaged 21.1 disposals and 3.4 clearances per game, across 17 games, in 2020 to establish himself as an integral part of the Bulldogs’ midfield mix.

Arguably Smith’s best performance came in round 12 against the Adelaide Crows, when he accumulated 37 disposals and more than 800 metres gained.

Naughton has had an injury-interrupted year, but been an important part of the forward line when fit.

The 20-year-old has kicked 20 goals from his 11 games – albeit with two of those ended early due to injuries.

He kicked a career-best six goals against the Crows from eight disposals and six marks, against All Australian defender Daniel Talia.
