AFLW members’ free access for home games

Western Bulldogs AFLW members will be able to access matches at VU Whitten Oval for free next season, despite the League announcing a cost-per-ticket model for the first time.

Western Bulldogs AFLW members will be able to access matches at VU Whitten Oval for free next season, despite the League announcing a cost-per-ticket model for the first time.

The AFL moved to introduce a $10 ticket cost for adults to attend games in 2021, with patrons under 18 being able to enter games at no cost, to ensure it would comply with contract tracing requirements relating to COVID-19 and to provide a safe environment for its fans.

Club members would be eligible to receive a 50% discount ($5 per ticket) to access games, however the Bulldogs have moved to subsidise that cost for its AFLW members, who will get free access to matches held at VU Whitten Oval if they sign up for 2021.

For away games, club members can purchase tickets as part of the general public on sale.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming our fans back to VU Whitten Oval to see our AFLW team play in 2021, after a year which was severely compromised as we know,” said Bulldogs’ CEO Ameet Bains.

“The Club has created a memorable and unique match-day experience and atmosphere for our women’s games for many years now, and we’ll work closely with the AFL to ensure we comply with covid-safe protocols for the safety of our fans into the future.

“We understand the AFL’s introduction of a new ticketing policy for next season, and we wanted to reward our members for their loyalty and financial support.

“Being a Western Bulldogs AFLW member will give you the best opportunity to be able to watch games at VU Whitten Oval in 2021.”

AFLW club members will have priority access to tickets, while a limited amount of tickets are expected to be made available for general public sale, subject to capacity.

Information relating to on-sale dates for each game, and how to access tickets, will be revealed in the new year.

The 2021 AFLW fixture was revealed last week, with the Bulldogs to host four games at VU Whitten Oval – the first of those coming in Round 2 on Friday February 5, which kicks off the annual Pride Round.

The team starts its new campaign against St Kilda at RSEA Park on Friday January 29.
