This year has been a year like no other - but there are plenty of moments worth celebrating with 2020 now nearing the end.

We’re counting down 20 of the best football moments from the year – across our AFL and AFLW seasons.

20: Anissa 500

01:30

People like Anissa Groves are the heart and soul of the Western Bulldogs.
Anissa has been a permanent fixture at the Kennel since 1997, when she worked her first game day, and has been the Bulldogs’ head trainer for many years.
This year, Anissa celebrated her 500th game with the Bulldogs.
It’s an incredible achievement and fitting recognition for someone who has given so much to this football club.

19: Dogs hold on in Suns thriller

Five points was all that separated the Western Bulldogs and Gold Coast Suns in round eight.
In a see-sawing contest in tricky conditions, the Bulldogs valiantly held off a late surge from the Suns to take the points in a nail-biter.
It took a defensive mark from Marcus Bontempelli inside the final 30 seconds to make sure of the win.
The skipper was among the best, as were Jack Macrae and Bailey Smith. But defensively, the Bulldogs were resolute – led by the likes of Caleb Daniel, Hayden Crozier, Alex Keath and Bailey Williams.

18: State of Origin honours

All the way back in February, three star Bulldogs earned the right to play in the State of Origin for Bushfire Relief match.
Marcus Bontempelli and Jack Macrae pulled on the Big V for Victoria, going head-to-head against Jason Johannisen and the All Stars.
In front of a packed Marvel Stadium crowd, the Vics produced a spirited comeback midway through the third quarter, overturning a 30-point deficit to storm home 46-point winners.
$8 million was raised collectively, with close to half of that total coming from the Bushfire Relief match itself.
