Gun recruit Adam Treloar won’t have to wait long to come up against his old side next year, with the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood set to clash in the opening round of the 2021 AFL season.

The AFL has released their first round fixture for 2021, with the Dogs and Magpies to face off on the first Friday night of the season, for the second successive year.

The MCG will host the blockbuster game, at 7.50pm on Friday March 19, the night after Richmond and Carlton’s traditional season-opener.

The Magpies got the better of the Dogs at a crowd-less Marvel Stadium in Round 1 last year, just two days before the 2020 season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Prior to that game, it had been a decade since the Bulldogs played a fellow Victorian team in the opening round of the year.

Treloar arrived at VU Whitten Oval in a stunning last minute trade period deal in November, with former team-mate Travis Varcoe also landing at the Kennel recently as a development coach.

In the coming days, the AFL is expected to release details of the first six rounds of the 2021 season.
