The Western Bulldogs have announced their VFLW leaders for season 2021, with newly-named captain Riley Christgoergl leading a six-person leadership group.

Christgoergl, a highly-skilled midfielder, arrived at the Kennel in 2019 from Old Xaverians.

Missing the 2019 finals series due to a persistent hamstring injury, she has had a strong pre-season this year and is ready to add to her seven-game tally.

Christgoergl will be supported by Katelyn Betts as vice-captain.

Betts, a smart footballer with high footy IQ, joined the red, white and blue in 2019 from Mount Evelyn FC.

In her first year at the Club she managed 16 games, including the Grand Final, as part of the Bulldogs’ on-ball brigade.

Tayla Dinnuccio, Simone Ruedin, Mary Sandral and Louise Bibby make up the remainder of the leadership group.

The VFLW Bulldogs have been training at VU Whitten Oval twice a week, participating in various intraclub and practice matches in preparation for the season proper.

The 2021 rebel VFLW season is scheduled to begin next weekend, with a fixture expected to be announced soon.
