Western Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli has been judged best afield in the eyes of both Luke Beveridge and Adam Simpson, following his dominant performance in Sunday’s seven-point win over West Coast.

Bontempelli earned the perfect score of 10 votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award for his efforts, which included 30 disposals, seven inside-50s, 14 score involvements and three goals – one of which came in the final minute of play to seal the win.

Remarkably, he had 14 disposals, five clearances and three inside-50s to his name by quarter-time.

Consistent ball-winner Jack Macrae was next-best, recognised with eight votes for his 41 touches, 14 score involvements, nine clearances and eight inside-50s, currently sitting equal-fifth on the leaderboard alongside Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston.

Bulldogs Josh Dunkley (25 possessions, nine tackles, six clearances, one goal) and Aaron Naughton (13 possessions, eight marks, three goals) both received two votes each.
