The Western Bulldogs have named four Club debutants in the squad for Sunday’s season opener against Greater Western Sydney at UNSW Oval in Canberra.

Aaron Naughton, the Bulldogs’ first round selection (pick 9) in the 2017 AFL National Draft, will become the 1001st Bulldog to play for the Club, joining Jackson Trengove and Hayden Crozier, who will pull on the red, white and blue officially for the first time.

Billy Gowers, selected with pick 9 from Footscray in the 2017 AFL Rookie Draft, has been named on the interchange and could also debut on Sunday.

Crozier who spent six seasons at Fremantle told media on Thursday that he can’t wait to get started.

“It’s been a long pre-season, any footballer would tell you that they can’t wait for footy season,’’ he said.

“It’s been a grind (but) the boys have got through it pretty unscathed. We’re just looking forward to Sunday’s game.”

The Bulldogs and Giants will go head-to-head from 1.10pm at UNSW Canberra Oval.

The final team will be announced at 5pm on Friday.
