The Western Bulldogs have recorded their fifth win of the 2021 VFLW season, overcoming Essendon by 18 points on Saturday morning.

It was an inspiring effort at Windy Hill, as a relentless Bulldogs outfit proved too strong for the Dons in the 4.4 (28) to 1.4 (10) affair.

Amanda Tessari was dominant in the ruck from the first bounce, enabling midfielders to get first use of the football, setting up rising star Ella Friend for the first goal of the game.

Tahlia Meier demonstrated her silky skills, gathering plenty of the ball around the ground, while AFLW-listed player Elisabeth Georgostathis had plenty of impact rolling through the midfield and forward line.

Repeat forward entries in the second term showed the Bulldogs were winning the territory battle, however wet and windy conditions made it difficult to score.

Eventually their consistent pressure paid off, with crafty forward Annabel Scott snapping a goal to extend the lead to 13 points at the main break.

In an electrifying third term, the Bulldogs continued to pile on the scoreboard pressure, with Friend getting her second major for the day.

Issy Grant also added to the goals tally, thanks to some quick ball movement from skillful midfielders Isabelle Pritchard and Ange Gogos.

Fellow midfielder Jess Fitzgerald also had plenty of impact, demonstrating her class and explosive ability to breakaway from stoppages.

Simone Ruedin was granted best afield for her consistent efforts around the ground, while Eliza Morrison showed plenty of composure rebounding off the half-back line.

While the Bulldogs remained goalless in the final term, the damage had already been done, with the team cruising to an 18 point victory.

The Bulldogs will look to continue this winning form next week when they take on the Southern Saints at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
