Livewire forward Cody Weightman has received a round nine nomination for the rebel Goal of the Year award.

In just his fourth game at AFL level – and first of 2021 – Weightman pulled off the miraculous against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

The 20-year-old crumbed a marking contest in the goal-square and snapped truly over his head, to extend the Bulldogs’ lead beyond two goals late in the final term.

Voting is now open at goaloftheyear.afl and closes the day before the next round.

All members of the public who cast a vote and pick a weekly winner go into the draw to win $5,000.

At the end of the home-and-away season, the AFL nominates three goals for public voting to determine the Goal of the Year.
