Western Bulldogs VFLW leader Simone Ruedin has claimed the Club’s Best and Fairest award after an impressive 2021 campaign.

Ruedin finished atop of the leaderboard with 36.25 votes at Friday night’s formalities, after not missing a match this season.

Playing predominantly in defence, her versatility and ability to play across any part of the ground saw her feature up forward, in the ruck and even as an on-baller throughout the season.

Ruedin's efforts pinch-hitting in the ruck late in the season saw her record 50 hit-outs in three games, while also contributing on the scoreboard on two separate occasions.

Her greatest output came against Geelong in round five, where she registered 21 disposals.

Amanda Tessari was named runner-up, receiving 30.17 votes from 12 games, while vice-captain Katelyn Betts took out third place with 27.58 votes from 13 games.

Betts also took out the Players’ Player award.

Despite missing majority of the season battling through a concussion, captain Riley Christgoergl received the Coaches’ Award for her commitment and leadership off-field.

Eliza Vale was recognised as the Best Young Player, averaging 10.7 disposals from her 12 matches.

The voting process sees the coaching panel award each player a score out of five at the conclusion of every match. These scores are then averaged to give each player a single score for the round.
