An All-Australian defender with clean, quick hands and good agility, Dale arrived at the Kennel via a third-round selection (Pick 45 overall) in 2014. After making his senior debut in Round 7, 2015, Dale played a further nine games in his first year. A member of the Footscray Bulldogs' 2016 VFL Premiership team, a pre-season switch from forward to back early in his career paid dividends, cementing a spot in the half-back line to earn maiden All-Australian honours in 2021.
