Did you know that Australians lost $24.98 billion dollars in the last financial year on all forms of gambling? We lose more money than any other country in the world on gambling (twice the amount of the USA). Unfortunately, 61% of those experiencing severe harm from gambling are men.

Now, with COVID-19, the way we are keeping ourselves entertained has changed. Although the pokies are currently closed, the risks and harms associated with gambling remain, both for the gambler and the people affected by someone else’s gambling. It is more important than it ever has been to look out for your mates.

This week we have CAFS (John Bradshaw) and IPC Health (Ian Ferretter) who are local experts from Gambler’s Help to come speak to us about the harm of gambling and where to seek help either for yourself or someone you know. We also have a lived experience speaker from Three Sides of the Coin, who will share their own personal story on how they survived their battle with gambling.
