Western Bulldogs key forward Aaron Naughton says he is relishing the opportunity to play off for a spot in the 2021 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

Of the 23 that played in last weekend’s semi-final win over Brisbane, Naughton is one of 13 Bulldogs that are yet to feature at a preliminary final stage.

He said while he’s trying to keep the nerves at bay for now, he expects things to ramp up closer to Saturday’s final against Port Adelaide.

“(I’m trying) to keep it pretty lowkey - the nerves will probably start kicking in on game-day,” Naughton told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“I’m normally pretty good until I get to the ground and that’s when the nerves will start to kick in, but it’s exciting.

“This is what you play footy for – to be in prelims and to be in the big games, so we’re all looking forward to it.”

The Bulldogs’ forward-line will look a little different this weekend, with electric small Cody Weightman ruled out with low-level concussion symptoms.

The 20-year-old was subbed out of the semi-final at half-time.

“The little Flea – I love playing down there with him,” Naughton said.

“Just his pressure and his voice, and even his celebrations – he’s just so happy for anyone no matter how they’re going.

“We’ll miss him a little bit down there, but whoever takes his place will bring that same energy.”

The Bulldogs will announce their team of 22 and four emergencies on Thursday night at 6.20pm AEST.
