Christmas is around the corner, and we’ve put together a wish list for all Bulldogs supporters as the festive season kicks into gear.

Debuts, crowds and football achievements, it’s all there as we crystal ball season 2022.

Bulldogs H&A Crowd Record
68,447. Round 11 v Richmond, 1974 at the MCG.
These statistics may not seem important, but come Round 1, 2022, a record could soon be broken. 68,477 is the most fans that have ever attended a Western Bulldogs home-and-away fixture, and given the enormity of a Wednesday night grand final rematch, this may be surpassed.
Victorian football fans have been starved of live action over the past two years and the March 16 opener provides the perfect opportunity to return to the MCG.
Nothing will compare to the 99,000+ at the 2016 Grand Final, but this will be a special evening for Demon and Dog fans.

AFLW home streak continues
It has been 642 days since the AFLW Bulldogs have lost a game at VU Whitten Oval and the squad has every intention of the hot streak continuing. A loss to Fremantle in Round 6, 2020 is the last blemish at home, giving our fierce women plenty of confidence heading into the new campaign.
Making VU Whitten Oval a fortress in 2022 will give the side the best possible chance for success during the upcoming season.

50,000 membership barrier broken
Breaking the 50,000-membership barrier has been a key goal at the Bulldogs, with the hope that at some point next season, the record is broken.
The Club has been going from strength-to-strength both on and off the field, and the achievement of would continue the upward trajectory.
With crowds returning and hunger for football at an all-time high, what better time than to sign up as a Bulldogs member.  Join the Club as we look to go one better in 2022.

A couple of comebacks
Two fan favourites will be hoping to make successful returns from ACL injuries next season.
Toby McLean has endured plenty during his 94 games, rupturing two ACL’s back-to-back over the past two years.  The midfielder suffered the injury late in the season at training, and fans will be cheering for Toby to return late in 2022.
A late-season injury to Josh Bruce was one of the hard-luck stories of the 2021 season. The key forward ruptured his ACL in the final minutes of the Round 21 loss to Essendon.
A popular team member, Bruce is targeting a finals return in 2022, and he’s tracking nicely in his recovery from the long-term injury.

Deanna Berry returns
On a similar note, Premiership player Deanna Berry is on the mend from an ACL suffered in Round 5 last season. Berry was prolific in the early rounds of the season before the cruel blow ended her campaign abruptly.
It’s looking likely that the tough midfielder will return in 2022, which will come as a major boost to the Bulldogs’ AFLW line up.

Redevelopment works
VU Whitten Oval is getting a facelift, and construction on the next stage of the redevelopment is set to get underway early in the new year.
A redevelopment of the Bulldogs’ home is another exciting step forward for the Club with state-of-the-art facilities for players and staff to be housed at the ground.
Expect positive change for fans and the community after the redevelopment is complete.

Injury free seasons for both football programs
At the top of every fans Christmas wish list - no injuries!
The less injuries the better for the upcoming campaign, with many AFLW stars on track to return just in time for the start of the season.
If the men’s squad can stay fit and healthy, it’s hoped that they can contend again in 2022.

A Darcy debut
Fans will be hopeful to catch a glimpse of first round draftee and son of a gun Sam Darcy.  If the 205cm key position prospect can break into the side for his debut, it’ll be a moment to savour for the Bulldogs faithful.
Darcy will hope to follow in the footsteps of father Luke and grandfather David, who both had fantastic careers for the red, white and blue. The youngster averaged 16 touches and six marks per game in the NAB League, while booting six goals for Vic Metro in a practice game earlier in the season.

Loyal Bulldogs fans return to Marvel Stadium
It’s been a tough two years for Victorian Bulldogs fans.
Missing out on watching a Grand Final live last year in the midst of the COVID pandemic was tough, but with positivity on the horizon, Round 2 is set to be a welcome return.
Thursday, March 24 at 7.20pm will be the Dogs’ first home game of the year against Carlton.
We expect our loyal Bulldogs fans to turn out and watch their team start another campaign.

Bevo reaches 100 career wins
At the beginning of the 2022 season, senior coach Luke Beveridge will sit on 92 wins. A special moment could come next year if the Premiership coach can bring up the ton.
The Bulldogs had 18 wins to close out 2021, meaning a similar season could see the hundred broken. It would be on every fan’s wish list; a deep finals campaign and plenty of wins for Bevo!
