Western Bulldogs AFLW stars Gabby Newton and Issy Grant will take on the challenge of raising much-needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital, by participating in Neil’s Cruise for the Kids this Friday.

Neil’s Cruise for the Kids is a fundraiser for the Good Friday Appeal, coordinated with 3AW’s Neil Mitchell program, where participants take a 45-minute cruise down the iconic Yarra River in Melbourne while raising money for the Appeal.

Newton and Grant will be aiming to raise at least $5000 before they are able to disembark the boat. Donations can be made now, via the Western Bulldogs’ fundraising page.

The Bulldogs will take on North Melbourne in the annual Good Friday match at Marvel Stadium on Friday, April 15.

Previously, Bulldogs’ CEO Ameet Bains, defender Taylor Duryea and 2016 premiership defender Dale Morris have taken part in the fundraiser, which was formerly known as ‘Neil’s Wheel’.

WHEN IS NEIL’S CRUISE FOR THE KIDS?
Friday, March 11, from 8.30am to 11.30am. Newton and Grant will board the boat at 9.30am.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Fundraisers need to raise a minimum of $5000 to be released from the Melbourne River Cruises boat.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
Funds raised will go towards neurophysiology equipment for Royal Children’s Hospital Neurology Department.  The RCH Neurology Department is committed to improving health outcomes of infants, children and adolescents with disorders of the brain, nerves and muscles. A dedicated Neurophysiology Service sits within the department, with a focus on the study of nerve cells (neurones) as they receive and transmit information in the brain, spine, and muscles, and uses advanced technology to do so. Through Good Friday Appeal support, vital, aging neurophysiology equipment will be replaced with enhanced, state-of-the-art pieces to provide the highest standard of care to patients with neurological disorders.
