The Western Bulldogs’ Friday night clash against St Kilda will mark the 23rd iteration of the annual Barker-Whitten Challenge Plate.

Played once a year and named in honour of legendary duo Ted Whitten and Trevor Barker, the Plate highlights the Trevor Barker Foundation and the EJ Whitten Foundation – both of which partner with Challenge, an organisation dedicated to supporting children and their families living with cancer.

The Barker-Whitten Challenge Plate is awarded to the winning captain post-match.

The Bulldogs are currently in possession of the Plate, having triumphed by 111 points in their last meeting over St Kilda.

Since its inception in 2000, the Bulldogs have claimed the Plate on 11 occasions.
