Forward-turned-defender Rory Lobb says he is grateful to the Western Bulldogs for reinvigorating his career.
Originally recruited for his impact up forward, Lobb has embraced a new challenge in the backline over the last 18 months.
His continued growth in the defensive unit has added flexibility and experience to the red, white and blue’s structure.
“I’m extremely grateful for this football club and what they’ve done for me over the last couple of years,” Lobb said.
“I was excited to extend. I’m excited for the future.”
The 32-year-old has embraced his defensive role, and is relishing the opportunity to work closely with some of the Club's rising stars as a mentor.
“I’m officially still a forward, but (have enjoyed) playing down back with the likes of Liam Jones and JOD [James O'Donnell] this year,” Lobb said.
“(JOD) had a really good game on the weekend, and I’m really enjoying playing in that system. The future is really bright with those players and hopefully I can keep getting games and surround them with my knowledge.”
With this weekend’s clash against Essendon on the horizon, Lobb and the Bulldogs are fired up for a strong performance.
“We’re excited to play against Essendon this weekend and hopefully get the win,” he said.
“It’s always great to play in front of our fans, and I can’t wait to see what we can do as a group, both this weekend and in the future.”
The Dogs will host Essendon in the inaugural Marngrook at Marvel Stadium from 7:35pm AEST this Saturday night.
