The Western Bulldogs have fallen to Geelong VFLW by 23 points in a spirited contest at Deakin University.
The hosts led from start to finish in the 8.9 (57) to 5.4 (34) affair.
Facing cold, windy conditions and a 19-point deficit at half time, the Dogs lifted in the third term, finding momentum and intensity.
Despite their push, the home side proved too strong in the closing moments.

While the result didn’t fall their way, the Bulldogs showed grit and resilience.
Zara Hamilton was a standout across all lines, finishing with 22 disposals, nine tackles and seven marks in a well-rounded display.
Jaimi Tabb applied relentless pressure with 20 disposals, 10 tackles and four clearances whilist Leah Swain controlled the ruck with 31 hit-outs, adding 11 disposals and six clearances to give her midfielders first use.
Up forward, Brianna McFarlane kicked three goals from eight disposals, while Mali McLeod added spark with 13 disposals, four tackles and three marks.
Jorja Livingstone rounded out the strong individual showings with 15 disposals, five marks and two clearances.
The Dogs now look ahead to Round 11, where they will host North Melbourne at Mission Whitten Oval.
The first bounce is set for 7:35pm AEST on Friday 4 July.
