LAST MEETING
Round 22, 2024
Adelaide Crows 17.9 (111) def. Western Bulldogs 9.18 (72)
The Western Bulldogs’ inaccuracy cost them against a momentum-riding Adelaide outfit, falling by 39 points at Adelaide Oval in their last encounter. While the scoreboard didn’t swing their way, the Dogs’ grit and standout individual efforts offered promise.
Adam Treloar was a driving force, leading all players with 28 disposals and seven clearances in a tireless display. Captain Marcus Bontempelli overcame a quiet start to leave his mark, finishing with 26 disposals and two goals. Tom Liberatore brought his trademark toughness, collecting 24 touches and laying eight tackles, while Sam Darcy registered 19 disposals, five marks and eight hit outs.
THE LINE-UP
WHO TO WATCH
Rising star Sam Davidson is set to ignite excitement for the red, white and blue, returning to the line-up this Saturday after illness sidelined him last week. Averaging 10.1 disposals and 6.5 handballs from his debut campaign so far, the dynamic wingman is sure to add plenty of speed and pace along the flanks.
WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY
- Martin Pegan, afl.com.au
The Western Bulldogs (10-6) keep building momentum with four straight victories, sending a warning shot across the competition by piling an average 127 points across that stretch. The Dogs can prove their top-four credentials at a venue where they have lost only once in their past 13 matches while meeting the Crows for the first time at Marvel Stadium since 2016.
Adelaide (11-5) has distanced itself from the sides sitting in the bottom half of the ladder although it was given a huge scare by Melbourne before doing just enough to move to 9-0 against teams now out of finals contention. The Crows have shown that they can also match it with the sides still eyeing a top-four spot, although two wins and five defeats against that group leave them with little margin for error.
