The Western Bulldogs have signed Romy Timmins as the Club's second rookie ahead of Wednesday’s AFL Women’s Draft.

A former captain of the Berwick Hawks women’s team in the VWFL, Timmins, 27, is a hard at the ball mid and a natural leader, and joins Libby Birch on the Club’s rookie list.

A talented athlete, Timmins has been combining travel and studies over the past there years, keeping fit by playing local level basketball. 

Timmins was signed under the AFL’s rookie rules, allowing the Club to sign up to two players that have not played a game of community or state football in the past three years, up to 15 June 2016.

Bulldogs women’s team coach Paul Groves said he looked forward to welcoming Timmins to the Kennel.

"Romy is a great addition to our side," Groves told westernbulldogs.com.au

“She’s a hard inside midfielder who has shown leadership capabilities and we are incredibly excited to have her in Bulldogs colours.”

The NAB AFL women’s draft commences at 1pm on Wednesday.
