The Western Bulldogs have obtained selection 32 for the upcoming NAB AFL Draft and a future third round section in a trade with the Brisbane Lions, in exchange for defender Marcus Adams.

Adams will head north after playing 27 games over three seasons at VU Whitten Oval.

Adams, who has endured a frustrating run with injuries in his career so far, was contracted with the Club until the end of the 2020 season, but requested a trade to Brisbane.

“In our discussions with other Clubs in relation to a potential trade with Marcus, we were clear about our reluctance to allow a contracted player to leave, unless the Club was adequately compensated,” said Bulldogs’ General Manager of List and Recruiting, Sam Power.

“We are comfortable with the mix of defenders we currently have on our list, and bringing in more draft picks puts us in a stronger position for this and next year’s Draft.

“We thank Marcus for his efforts during his time at the Bulldogs, and wish him well for the remainder of his AFL career.”

Adams arrived at the Bulldogs at the end of the 2015 season with pick 35 in the National Draft, and played 11, 10 and six games in his three seasons.
