Responsibility sits well with new leaders Mitch Wallis and Jackson Trengove.

Elevated to the Dogs’ leadership group yesterday, Wallis and Trengove said they will relish the opportunity to lead by example.

“I'm very honoured to be a part of the leadership group, but the hard work starts now, putting those words into action, having a good start to the year and carrying that through,” said Wallis.

In 2019, the Bulldogs will field one of youngest playing lists in the competition, and 28-year old Trengove believes an honest approach will be integral to his role.

“We’re probably a little bit older in the scheme of things at the football club,” said Trengove.

“Coming from Port and being in their leadership group, it’s going to be no different here. I think I was able to lead by example last year.

“We finished off really well as a club and that’s what we’ll be building on this pre-season and into the start of next year.”

BULLDOGS DUO ELEVATED TO LEADERSHIP GROUP

Wallis has been keeping a keen eye on the Dogs' latest father-son recruit, Rhylee West, and is confident he has the right work ethic and drive to succeed.
“He's a cheeky bugger, and not shy," Wallis joked.

“We've seen some highlights (and) he's made of the right stuff, so I'm sure he'll get his opportunity and take it with both hands.

“I can't wait to play alongside him because I've been lucky enough to see him grow up with my family quite close with the Wests.

“To see him play for the Bulldogs will be pretty special.”
