The Western Bulldogs and ASICS Oceania are excited to confirm the return of their joint community initiative for 2026, which will see junior footballers from four RDFNL clubs receive a brand-new pair of ASICS football boots.
Young footballers registered from Under 11s to Under 17s from Melton Centrals, Melton Bloods, Melton South and Eynesbury went home with new ASICS footwear last Wednesday night, giving the next generation of footy talent a boost.
Bulldogs Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer Kon Karavias said the success and impact of the program in previous years made its return a priority for the Club.
"This initiative, in partnership with ASICS, delivers meaningful support to young footballers and their families," Karavias said.
"We know football has the power to build confidence and friendships, so we're proud to work with ASICS to make sport more accessible while helping young people stay active and involved in the game.
“We’re grateful to ASICS for their ongoing commitment to community football – we could not deliver this project without them.”
Mark Brunton, Managing Director, ASICS Oceania, shared Karavias’ sentiment.
“At the heart of the ASICS brand is our founding philosophy of Sound Mind, Sound Body and we’re proud to bring that commitment to life through our partnership with the Western Bulldogs,” Brunton said.
“Together, we’re helping more young Australians experience the positive impact sport can have on both their physical and mental wellbeing, while strengthening connections within their local communities.
“We can’t wait to see the next generation of Bulldogs players proudly lace up their ASICS and take to the field for another exciting season of footy!
RDFNL Chief Executive Officer Jordan Doyle was thankful for the initiative.
“The RDNFL wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the Western Bulldogs and ASICS for their support of the four clubs,” he said.
“The RDFNL clubs and junior footballers are extremely fortunate to be the beneficiaries of this initiative.”
Greg Madigan, Head of AFL Victoria, said the initiative plays an important role in strengthening community football participation.
“Community football remains strongest when every young person has the opportunity to participate,” Madigan said.
“This initiative has provided support to a large number of participants around the Melton area, and the response from clubs, families and players highlights the significant impact these programs can have at a local level
“AFL Victoria thanks the Western Bulldogs Football Club, ASICS and all the players, staff and volunteers who contributed to making the rollout such a success.”
ASICS will also be the official match-day partner for the Bulldogs’ AFLW Round 2 clash with Richmond on Saturday 22 August, extending its support of grassroots football through the AFL Victoria pre-game junior clinics delivered at all Western Bulldogs AFLW home games.
Local clubs will also have the opportunity to win boots for their junior teams through a special quarter-time activation this Saturday.
Tickets for Round 2 are on sale now.
