Western Bulldogs livewire forward Cody Weightman says he is feeling more settled up forward this season.

The 21-year-old has played 24 games since his senior debut in round 7, 2020, including all four finals last year.

He enjoyed a career-best five goal haul on Good Friday against North Melbourne, taking his season tally to 10 majors.

“I’m definitely feeling comfortable in my role now, and I know what I have to go and do,” Weightman told SEN Breakfast on Thursday morning.

“I suppose you get the five goals off the back of that, but it’s certainly not my role to go out and kick bags of goals. I’m keeping it simple now and understanding exactly what I’ve got to do – it’s given me a lot of clarity and confidence going in.

“Our forward-line has been chopped and changed since I’ve been in the team, so (it’s also about) building chemistry with who we’ve got.

“That also definitely helps – just spending time out there and getting comfortable in playing footy out there.”

The Bulldogs will return to Ballarat this weekend to face a resurgent Adelaide outfit.

Weightman said the group has confidence in their abilities, and is looking forward to hopefully seeing a packed Mars Stadium.

“We’ve got quite a good record in Ballarat – we’ve won our last four there so we have confidence that we play a similar brand out there in Ballarat.

“We like travelling down there and the experience of it all.

“It’s great to see so many Bulldogs fans down in Ballarat – as a smaller club in Melbourne, we get a really good following down there.

“It’s a great initiative from the Club and I think a great financial move from the Club as well. It’s something we really look forward to each year.”
