Western Bulldogs forwards Arthur Jones and Laith Vandermeer have entered concussion protocols following incidents in their respective matches.
Jones was removed from the Dogs’ Opening Round clash with Brisbane, while Vandermeer developed concussion symptoms in the VFL practice match.
“Arthur received some high contact at the end of the third quarter against the Lions,” Bulldogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said.
“He has since started within our concussion management framework, and will be monitored across the next 12 days to determine his return-to-play plan.
“Laith received some high contact in a marking contest during the VFL practice game, which caused some concussion symptoms so he was ruled out of the game.
“He has also entered our concussion protocol, and will work closely with our doctors across the next 12 days to determine when he will be expected to return to availability.”
In more positive news, Ryley Sanders, Adam Treloar and Ryan Gardner are all on track to return to availability.
“Ryley has progressed well following the concussion that he sustained in our AAMI Community Series match against the Hawks,” Bell said.
“He completed a non-contact match-like session on the weekend and has integrated back into some team training today. He still has some boxes to tick across the next few days, but remains on track to return to availability this weekend.
“Adam trained strongly on the weekend, continuing to build football training consistency following his episode of calf tightness in mid-February. If he gets through main training and performs well, he will be considered to return to availability this weekend.
“At the end of our VFL practice game two weeks ago, Ryan developed an issue with one of his adductor groin muscles.
“He has missed the last two games, but after training fully for the last week we expect Ryan to return to availability this weekend.”
