The Western Bulldogs have appointed Mathew Inness as the Club’s Physical Performance Manager.

With nearly 20 years of experience in elite sport in a variety of roles, Inness was a standout candidate throughout an extensive process that included a number of highly credentialed professionals.

Inness brings perspectives from a broad range of roles including as a High Performance Coach/Manager, a professional athlete, skills coach, and as a sport scientist, in a number of different professional sporting organisations.
 
A PhD candidate, Inness has demonstrated an ability to be a thought leader in his field, presenting at international conferences on Applied Physiology and Strength and Conditioning, as well as having research papers published in high-ranking scientific journals.

General Manager, Football Graham Lowe said it was a significant outcome for the Club to secure someone of Inness’ calibre as its new Physical Performance Manager.

“Mathew possesses a breadth of experience in influencing physical and high performance outcomes in elite athletes,” Lowe said.

“Having recently filled the position of High Performance Coach at the Club, Matthew has demonstrated a genuine ability to drive and manage the physical preparation of our playing group through his knowledge, work ethic, ability to build strong professional and personal relationships and his advanced views on high performance.”

“Mathew was a clear choice among some very highly-rated applicants, and we look forward to him driving exceptional outcomes in his specialised function.”

Inness will commence the role immediately.
