Western Bulldogs defender Issy Grant is staying at the Club she loves.

Born and raised in the red, white and blue, Grant has put pen to paper on a contract extension which will take her through to at least the end of the 2028 AFLW season.

The 24-year-old has played 55 games since her debut in 2021.

“It was the easiest decision I’ve ever made,” Grant said.

“This Club is a massive part of my family and it was a big part of my life growing up.

“To be honest, I’m just really excited that the Club still wants me to be part of something so special. I feel really proud to be able to carry on the journey with my family too. I just love the Bulldogs.”

Grant’s father Chris kicked 554 goals in 341 games in the red, white and blue and was last year voted the third best Bulldog of all time.

Grant said she is most excited to see where the team can take their footy in 2026 and beyond.

“I think what excites me most about the next couple of years is the group that we have and the trajectory that we are on,” she said.

“We’ve improved so much in different areas of our game and I think this year we will see those components really come together.”

AFLW List Manager Dan Fisher said he was pleased to secure Grant’s services.

“It’s great to have Granty commit until at least the end of 2028,” Fisher said.

“She’s grown up in the red, white and blue, and while continuing her family legacy at the Club is awesome to see, it’s so exciting to see her forge her own path.

“She is a reliable defender who can win the ball back in the air, leading the team for intercept marks in 2025, while her athleticism and height means she can play on a range of opponents.

“We saw great growth in her offensive game last year with a career-high disposals while also leading our defensive group for efficiency.”

Grant joins Brit Gutknecht in extending her time at the Kennel in recent weeks.

The AFLW Bulldogs will start their 2026 campaign against the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday 15 August.
